Ghost Tights, Pub Stool, 4AM. Inside the handmade sample book every guest picks up before they tuft.

Ghost Tights. Pub Stool. 4AM. London Weather. Council Sky. Spinach Kick. Big Ben Fog.
These are not paint chip names from a hardware shop. They are ours, and every one of them was named with London in mind.

We wrote them by hand, one at a time, into a sketchbook we made ourselves out of cardboard and yarn. It lives in the studio, on the table, getting handled constantly.
Every guest picks it up before they tuft. That is the point of it. You can look at a colour on a screen and have no idea what it will feel like or how it will sit next to the shade above it. You can pick it up off a shelf and get closer. But a sample book you can hold, flip through and put your thumb on tells you something neither of those can.
It is a bit battered now. That is fine. It is a working object, not a display piece.

Most yarn arrives with a number. 028, 099, 282. Functional, and completely forgettable.
Naming them ourselves does two things. It makes the palette easier to remember and talk about, which matters when eight people are picking colours at once and trying to describe them to each other. And it gives the whole wall a bit of personality, which is more or less what we are here for.
Some of the names came instantly. Some took weeks. A few we are still arguing about.

115 GRS certified recycled colours, available at every Cheeky Studio workshop. As far as we know, it is the most extensive yarn palette of any tufting studio in London, and almost certainly the only one with its own handmade sample book.
All of it is Cheekyarn, our own recycled PET yarn. Made from waste, in colours named after the city it lives in.

Pick your colours, make your rug. Everything else we will walk you through.
